StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void continues the epic saga of the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg. These three distinct and powerful races will clash once again in the fast-paced real-time strategy sequel to the legendary original, StarCraft.
StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty, one of Blizzard Entertainment’s most popular games, is becoming a free-to-play game. Company CEO Mike Morhaime announced the news during BlizzCon 2017’s opening ceremony, which streamed live from Anaheim, California today., players will be able to play the entire Wings of Liberty campaign at no cost. If you already own that content, you will receive Heart of the Swarm at no additional cost.
Also included for free is the ranked multiplayer ladder, which players will unlock after achieving 10 First Wins of the Day in either unranked or versus modes. All co-op commanders, also announced today at BlizzCon, will be playable for free as well, albeit only up to level five. (Kerrigan, Raynor and Artanis will remain free indefinitely, however.) Other single-player campaigns will remain available for individual purchase.

Heart of the Swarm, Legacy of the Void and Nova Covert Ops will cost $14.99 each. The real-time strategy game first launched in 2010 for Windows and Mac. It’s a sequel to the original, still-played StarCraft, which launched back in 1998. It soon became the fastest selling RTS ever after release and has shipped more than three million copies. BlizzCon kicked off today and will run through Saturday night in Anaheim, California. This is the 11th iteration of the fan event, and Polygon will be reporting live from the ground throughout.
